Ageing populations across Europe have led to increased demand for healthcare professionals. Although mobility within the EU is one method of meeting increased demand, it can drain other Member States of much-needed staff. Germany is therefore recruiting and training non-EU migrants in compliance with the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel. The Peer Review in Berlin (23-24 October 2013) provided the opportunity for peer countries to explore the German approach of recruiting and training non-EU migrants.
